Basketball Recap: Nathan Sutherlin Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Western Boone

There's no place like home for Greencastle, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Saturday. They came out on top against the Western Boone Stars by a score of 68-59 on Friday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Tiger Cubs also won the last time the pair played back in January of 2020.

Greencastle got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Nathan Sutherlin out in front who posted 17 points and five steals. Those five steals gave Sutherlin a new career-high. Sam Gooch was another key player, almost dropping a double-double with 18 points and nine rebounds.

Loss or not, Western Boone got some senior leadership from Luke LaGrange and Tristyn Faulk. LaGrange shot 56% from the field en route to 19 points, while Faulk almost dropped a double-double with 15 points and nine boards. Another player making a difference was Beau Sawyer, who scored five points.

Greencastle now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Western Boone, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Coming up, Greencastle will take on South Putnam at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Western Boone, they will venture away from home to challenge Covington at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
