Baseball Recap: Kolbe-Cathedral Starts off Right with Win over Harding

Kolbe-Cathedral had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They never let the Harding Presidents get on the board and left with a 14-0 victory on Wednesday. The Cougars haven't had any issues with the Presidents recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Joey Mingolello was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 13 over five innings pitched. Mingolello was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ben Marshall, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Miguel Colon, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Harding dropped their record down to 0-2 with the loss, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season.

Coming up, Kolbe-Cathedral will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they takes on Bassick at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Harding, they are packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game of the season: they will square off against Bunnell at 12:00 p.m. on Monday.
