Baseball Game Preview: Bethlehem Eagles/Banshees vs. Bullitt East Chargers

Bethlehem hasn't had much luck against Bullitt East recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Eagles/Banshees will head out to face off against the Chargers at 6:00 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Bethlehem was handed a 12-run loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Tuesday. They skirted past Marion County 4-2. The win continues a trend for the Eagles/Banshees in their matchups with the Knights: they've now won three in a row.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Bullitt East). They were the clear victors by a 16-2 margin over Butler on Tuesday. Winning may never get old, but the Chargers sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Chris Logan spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on two hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Hunter Holland, who fired off two home runs, seven RBI, and four runs while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Devin Elder, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs and one RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Bullitt East kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Bethlehem's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-14. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games. As for Bullitt East, their record is now 22-10-1.

Bethlehem suffered a grim 14-8 defeat to Bullitt East in their previous meeting back in May of 2023. Can the Eagles/Banshees avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
