Recap: Unity Christian Knights vs. Varsity Opponent
The Unity Christian Knights had to endure a 17-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. In a tight game that could have gone either way, they made off with a 55-54 victory over Varsity Opponent. Unity Christian's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Unity Christian can attribute much of their success to Samm Wilbur, who dropped a double-double on 29 points and 13 rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which Wilbur has scored at least a third of Unity Christian's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Graham Foust, who scored nine points.
Unity Christian's victory ended a nine-game drought at home and bumped them up to 1-13. As for Varsity Opponent, they dropped their record down to 293-1136-2 with that loss, which was their 12th straight on the road.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Unity Christian will take on Pathway Christian at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Pathway Christian focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 28 last Saturday. As for Varsity Opponent, they will be playing at home against Legacy Elite Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
