Basketball Recap: Daniel Ojeda's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Chowchilla over Dos Palos

Chowchilla was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They opened the new year with a less-than-successful 54-41 defeat to the Dos Palos Broncos. The Tribe were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Broncos earlier this season, when they won 55-42.

Several Tribe players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Daniel Ojeda, who went 5 for 9 on his way to 11 points and six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Tristan Beardsley, who posted 11 points and eight rebounds.

Dos Palos' victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jacquez Jones, who had 30 points. That makes it seven consecutive games in which Jones has scored at least a third of Dos Palos' points. Tevin Clay was another key player, putting up 14 points.

Chowchilla's loss dropped their record down to 9-9. As for Dos Palos, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-9.

Chowchilla wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 72-65 defeat against Mendota on the 7th. As for Dos Palos, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 0-0 victory against Gustine on the 6th.
