Basketball Recap: Piedmont Classical Comes Up Short

While it was all tied up 28-28 at halftime, Piedmont Classical was not quite College Prep & Leadership Academy's equal in the second half on Friday. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 51-50 to the Royals. The Bobcats have struggled against the Royals recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Several Bobcats players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was London Gray, who went 6-for-12 to rack up 15 points in addition to six rebounds and five assists. Another player making a difference was Bryson Motley, who posted 14 points and four steals.

College Prep & Leadership Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Gvanni Byron, who shot 64% from the field en route to 19 points and eight boards. Ryan Byrd was another key player, dropping a double-double with 12 points and ten rebounds.

Piedmont Classical's loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Piedmont Classical will venture away from home to face off against Carver at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for College Prep & Leadership Academy, they will head out to square off against Bartlett Yancey at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
