Softball Recap: Cooper Comes Up Short

Cooper lost to Wylie back in March and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Cougars came up short against the Bulldogs, falling 13-2.

Cooper saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ryllie Hawthorne, who went 1-for-2 with one double. Ella Ruiz also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

Cooper has been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-9 record this season. As for Wylie, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 16-13.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Cooper is set to square off against their familiar foe Abilene at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Wylie will take on rival Legacy at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
