Softball Recap: Slocomb Takes a Loss

Slocomb was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They came up short against the Brantley Bulldogs, falling 11-5. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Red Tops of the 5-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2022.

Calie Seay made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. Olivia Abrego also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Slocomb's defeat dropped their record down to 7-11. As for Brantley, their victory bumped their record up to 11-6.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Slocomb will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Kinston at 5:00 p.m. on April 1. As for Brantley, they will take on Zion Chapel at 3:30 p.m. on Monday.
