Washington County came tearing into Saturday's match with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 20.7 points) and they left with even more momentum. They skirted past the Baldwin Braves 54-51. For the Golden Hawks, this counts as revenge for the 57-46 win the Braves walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January of 2024.

Washington County's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jade Kitchens, who went 8 of 15 en route to 17 points along with eight assists and eight boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Emmya Gamble, who posted nine points and six rebounds.

Washington County smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in six consecutive games.

Despite the loss, Baldwin saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Suri Clark dropped a double-double on 18 points and 17 boards. Those 17 rebounds set a new season-high mark for Clark. Another player making a difference was Kyla Levester, who had nine points in addition to eight boards and five blocks.

Washington County has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season. As for Baldwin, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 13-6.

Washington County wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 74-32 win against Jefferson County on the 27th. As for Baldwin, they will welcome Hephzibah at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Baldwin is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 61.6 points per game this season.
