Soccer Game Preview: Briar Woods vs. Riverbend

The Briar Woods Falcons will challenge the Riverbend Bears at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Briar Woods' last three matchups have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Briar Woods is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. While the 0-0 score might suggest a draw, it was the Falcons who were credited with the win. Briar Woods got it done in the shootout by posting five goals to Riverside's four. Briar Woods haven't had any issues with Riverside recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Riverbend is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Colonial Forge just ended the team's four-game winning streak last Wednesday. While the 1-1 score might suggest a draw, it was the Eagles who were credited with the win. Colonial Forge got it done in the shootout by posting three goals to Riverbend's two.

Riverbend's loss dropped their record down to 16-3. As for Briar Woods, their victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-6-2.

Everything went Briar Woods' way against Riverbend in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, as Briar Woods made off with a 5-0 win. Will the Falcons repeat their success, or do the Bears have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
