The Ballston Spa Scotties will head out to square off against the Averill Park Warriors at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Ballston Spa is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.7 runs per game this season.

Ballston Spa fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Columbia on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Blue Devils by a score of 2-1. The Scotties haven't had much luck with the Blue Devils recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Makayla LaRose spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on four hits.

On the hitting side, Ballston Spa saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Livia Wiltsie, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.

Meanwhile, Averill Park faced Colonie Central in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Warriors fell just short of the Wolfpack by a score of 3-1. Having soared to a lofty 11 runs in the game before, the Warriors couldn't push the score so high this time.

Averill Park's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-6. As for Ballston Spa, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-8.

Ballston Spa couldn't quite finish off Averill Park in their previous matchup back in April and fell 9-7. Can the Scotties avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
