Football Recap: Plainview Comes Up Short

Plainview had lost three straight on the road, but on Thursday they dropped down to 3-5 to make it four. They were beaten by the Palo Duro Dons 55-25. The Bulldogs lost against the Dons in their previous head to head back in October of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 38-31 score last time.

Several Bulldogs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Seth Mayberry, who threw for 297 yards and three TDs. Mayberry is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for three or more in each of the last six games he's played. Jordan Porter was in the mix too, providing Plainview with two touchdowns.

As for Palo Duro, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record up to 7-1. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 42.7 points over those games.

Julian Reese II continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, throwing for 235 yards and four TDs on only 18 passes, while also rushing for 83 yards. That's the most rushing yards he has posted since back in October of 2024. Another player making a difference was Raymond Johnson, who rushed for 108 yards on only nine carries.

Coming up, Plainview will be playing at home against Memorial at 7:00 p.m. on the 31st. The Bulldogs will be up against the Mavericks' rather soft defense (which has allowed 30.13 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Palo Duro, they will face off against Legacy at 7:00 p.m. on the 31st. The Dons will be up against the Leopards' rather soft defense (which has allowed 44 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
