Flag Football Recap: Von Everrette and Kyleigh Gowins Pace Gardendale Defense

The Gardendale Rockets came up short against the Hueytown Golden Gophers on Thursday and fell 13-6.

When it comes to explaining why Gardendale lost, don't look at Von Everrette. Despite the final result, she picked up 86 receiving yards and one TD. Everrette also deserves a shoutout for her performance on D, making three total tackles and defending two passes in addition to snagging two interceptions.

Gardendale didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Everrette and Kyleigh Gowins. Gowins also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with six.

Gardendale's defeat was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 3-2. As for Hueytown, they pushed their record up to 3-1 with the victory, which was their third straight at home.
