Football Recap: East Laurens Falcons vs. Johnson County Trojans
East Laurens had to start their season on the road on Saturday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They fell 27-21 to the Johnson County Trojans. The Falcons were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Trojans apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in August of 2024.
When it comes to explaining why East Laurens lost, don't look at Sky Snead. Despite the final result, he threw for 132 yards and three touchdowns, and also rushed for 41 yards.
Johnson County got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Jeremiah Scott out in front who rushed for 96 yards and a pair of TDs on only 13 carries. The dominant performance also gave Scott a new career-high in rushing touchdowns (two). Tayshawn Norris helped out on the ground, rushing for 96 yards and a rushing touchdown.
East Laurens will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Bleckley County at 7:30 p.m. on the 29th. This will be the Falcons' first chance to prove their worth in the conference. As for Johnson County, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 38-7 win against Montgomery County on the 22nd.
