Baseball Recap: Glendale Comes Up Short

Glendale had lost ten straight at home dating back to last season, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 1-15 to make it 11. They came up short against the Moshannon Valley Black Knights/Damsels, falling 14-1. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Black Knights/Damsels this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 11-1 back in April.

Glendale saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was James Shaw, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

As for Moshannon Valley, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-8 record this season. With that victory, they brought their scoring average up to 6.1 runs per game.

On Moshannon Valley's side, Brady Kephart was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched. Kephart also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Moshannon Valley is 3-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 5-7 otherwise. Kephart was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with four RBI. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Rocco Reifer was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Zach Reifer, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Glendale will head out to face off against Curwensville at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Moshannon Valley, they will challenge Harmony Area at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
