Recap: Grove City Greyhounds vs. Pickerington North Panthers
The Grove City Greyhounds lost against the Pickerington North Panthers back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Grove City fell just short of Pickerington North by a score of 51-48.
Grove City's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kevin Gallagher, who scored 11 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jack Reber, who scored 11 points.
Pickerington North's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Arness Lawson, who scored 17 points along with six rebounds and four steals. Lawson also posted two blocks for the first time this season. Another player making a difference was Favor Mcfadden, who scored 12 points along with eight blocks.
Grove City's loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-5. As for Pickerington North, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-6.
Grove City will head out on the road to take on Upper Arlington at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Upper Arlington is coming into the matchup with three straight victories at home, so Grove City is out to stop a squad with plenty of momentum. As for Pickerington North, they and Thomas Worthington will face off at 6:00 p.m. on February 3rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully Pickerington North is not getting complacent considering they own a much higher rank in Ohio (they are ranked 49th, while Thomas Worthington is ranked 289th).
