Basketball Recap: Shelby Comes Up Short

On Saturday, the Shelby Coyotes ended up a good deal behind the Stillwater Christian Cougars and lost 55-40.

Stillwater Christian was led to victory by Micah Strobel and Ryan Buzzard. Strobel went 6 for 14 on his way to 16 points in addition to seven rebounds and seven steals, while Buzzard went 6 of 15 on his way to 14 points in addition to eight steals and six boards. Those eight steals gave Buzzard a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylsen Pond, who posted five points and six rebounds.

Shelby's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Stillwater Christian, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-2.

Shelby and Choteau will meet in a canine-themed contest at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Stillwater Christian, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Bonners Ferry at 7:00 p.m. on January 10, 2025.
