Baseball Recap: Waggener Comes Up Short

Tuesday just wasn't the day for Waggener's offense. They took a 5-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Atherton Ravens on Tuesday. The Wildcats have struggled against the Ravens recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost meeting.

Logan Janiszewski spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and four unearned) runs on four hits and racked up 19 Ks.

On the hitting side, Waggener saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Carsen Ruwe, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases. Ruwe has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Wyatt Greene also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Waggener's defeat dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Atherton, they now have a winning record of 7-6-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Waggener will host Seneca at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Atherton, they will be playing at home against South Oldham at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
