Baseball Recap: Fowler Triumphs

While Fowler's win against Laingsburg wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Eagles beat the Wolfpack on Thursday by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 2-1. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Wolfpack recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Sam Vanneste spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on one hit and racked up seven Ks. He is becoming a predictor of Fowler's success: when he allows at most one hit the team is undefeated (and 1-3 when he doesn't).

On the hitting side, Fowler's win was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Jack O'Hare, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base. Conner Katich also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Fowler now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Laingsburg, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Fowler will square off against Lansing Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Pilgrims will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Eagles surely won't give up without a fight. As for Laingsburg, they will face off against Bath at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
