Softball Preview: East Central Hornets vs. Greene County Wildcats        
        
		
            The East Central Hornets will challenge the Greene County Wildcats at 11:30  a.m.  on Saturday. The timing is sure in East Central's favor as the  team sits on six straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while Greene County has been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road also dating back to last season.
On Friday, East Central beat Pascagoula 7-4.
  Angelina Gutierrez was  incredible,  going 3-for-4 with four  RBI, one  stolen base,  and one  double. The dominant performance also gave  her a new career-high in  hits (three). Another player making a difference was  Valerie Merrill, who  scored a  run while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Greene County's offense. They lost  14-0 to Ocean Springs on Friday.
 Greene County saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was  Amiyah Garrett, who  went a perfect 1-for-1 with one  stolen base. That  stolen base was  Garrett's first of the season.
 East Central's win  ended  a  five-game drought on the road  dating back to last season and  puts them at 6-3. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the  losses came by an average of only 2.4 runs. As for Greene County, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-3.
Greene County's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them:  East Central hasn't had any issues making contact this season,  having earned a batting average of .327. It's a different story for Greene County, though, as  they've  only  averaged .179. Will they be able to contain East Central's hitters?
