Basketball Recap: Seth Brandenburg's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Jellico over Clay County

After flying high against Oakdale on Tuesday, Jellico came back down to earth. The Blue Devils fell 73-69 to the Clay County Bulldogs on Thursday. The Blue Devils were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Bulldogs earlier this season, when they won 68-66.

Jellico's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Seth Brandenburg, who shot 71% from the field en route to 10 points in addition to five boards and five steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Trey Vann, who went 8-for-16 to rack up 20 points.

Jellico has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-4 record this season. As for Clay County, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-2.

Jellico has already played their next matchup (against Greenback), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Clay County also has no score uploaded for their next contest, this one against Friendship Christian.
