Softball Recap: St. Louis Catholic Drops Highest Score of Season Against Lake Charles College Prep

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask St. Louis Catholic). Everything went their way against the Lake Charles College Prep Trailblazers on Wednesday as they made off with a 21-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Saints, who have now won five matches by seven runs or more so far this season.

Abby Traub was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three stolen bases, six RBI, and four runs. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ellie Gage, who scored four runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

St. Louis Catholic always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .743. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

St. Louis Catholic has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Lake Charles College Prep, they dropped their record down to 0-10 with the loss, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. St. Louis Catholic will welcome DeRidder at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Lake Charles College Prep, they will be playing in front of their home fans against South Beauregard at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
