Basketball Recap: Wellington-Napoleon Snaps Five-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Santa Fe, Wellington-Napoleon was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They strolled past the Penney Hornets with points to spare, taking the game 42-27. That's more bragging rights for the Tigers, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Wellington-Napoleon to victory, but perhaps none more so than Brilynn Zykan, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 boards. Those 11 rebounds gave Zykan a new career-high. Makayla Simsheuser was another key player, putting up ten points and eight rebounds.

Wellington-Napoleon smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 24 offensive rebounds. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their offensive board total in four consecutive matchups.

Wellington-Napoleon's win ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-5. As for Penney, they are on a 13-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Wellington-Napoleon will take on Lexington in a holiday battle at at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Penney, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Mid-Buchanan at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
