Softball Game Preview: Adena Warriors vs. Meigs Marauders

The Adena Warriors are taking a road trip to take on the Meigs Marauders at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Adena proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by ten) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Piketon, sneaking past 8-6. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last three times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Meanwhile, Meigs entered their tilt with Southern on Thursday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They came out on top against the Tornadoes by a score of 4-0. The Marauders' pitching crew has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a run in their last three contests.

Southern's batters probably weren't too happy with Natalie Goode, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 16 Ks (she gave up zero walks). Goode has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 14 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Bella Roush, who went 2-for-4 with one triple and one RBI. That triple was her first of the season. Shelby Yost was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Meigs hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least two batters in three consecutive games.

Adena has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.9 runs over those games. As for Meigs, their record now sits at 18-6.

Adena suffered a grim 9-3 defeat to Meigs when the teams last played back in March. Can the Warriors avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
