Baseball Game Preview: McLane Highlanders vs. Roosevelt Rough Riders

For the second straight game, McLane will face off against Roosevelt. The Highlanders will square off against the Rough Riders at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. McLane is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.3 runs per game this season.

McLane fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Roosevelt on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Rough Riders by a score of 6-5. The Highlanders' loss signaled the end of their seven-game winning streak.

For Roosevelt's part, the team relied heavily on Roberson Brian, who went 3-for-5 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. That's the most hits Brian has posted since back in March. Cruz Diego was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three stolen bases and one run.

Roosevelt's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-7-2. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for McLane, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-11-1.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. McLane has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5.2 stolen bases per game.
