Volleyball Recap: Licking Heights Takes a Loss

Licking Heights managed to slip by Johnstown-Monroe the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Hornets came up short against the Johnnies on Tuesday, falling 3-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Hornets have suffered since August 28th.

The match was exciting from start to finish, as three sets needed extra rallies to gain a two-point lead. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 27-25, 27-25, 26-24.

Brooklyn Hall paced Licking Heights' offense, picking up 12 kills. Hall were helped by Player #4 and Valerie Ampadu, who contributed 13 assists each. Hall also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Player #12, each putting up two.

Johnstown-Monroe was led to victory by Addy Hazelbaker and Luciana Smith. Hazelbaker had six digs and two aces, while Smith had 19 digs and two aces. Hazelbaker is also crushing it when it comes to assists: she's posted at least 12 every time she's taken the court this season.

Licking Heights' loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 9-9. As for Johnstown-Monroe, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season.

Licking Heights has already played their next contest, a 3-2 defeat against Licking Valley on the 2nd. As for Johnstown-Monroe, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 3-2 win against Northridge on the 6th.
