Baseball Recap: Fort White Indians vs. Branford Buccaneers
Fort White is still undefeated this season after their contest against Branford on Wednesday, but Branford came as close as anyone has to beating them. The Fort White Indians sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-4 win over the Branford Buccaneers. For the Indians, this counts as revenge for the 3-2 victory the Buccaneers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

Aaron Parnell made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits over six innings pitched. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single earned run, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in March of 2024. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and one double. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in RBI.
In other batting news, Matthew Pitts was excellent, scoring a run while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Luis Ortiz, who scored two runs while going 1-for-4.
Fort White's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 4-0. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 1.67 runs across that stretch. As for Branford, they now have a losing record of 2-3.
Coming up, Fort White will challenge Hamilton County at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Branford, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 15-0 victory against Eastside on the 20th.
