Volleyball Recap: Emma Willard Takes a Loss

Emma Willard was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Mechanicville Red Raiders. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Red Raiders this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 back in September.

Emma Willard took a 2-1 lead headed into the fourth set, but sadly they lost the next two. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 22-25, 25-12, 26-28, 25-19, 15-7.

Emma Willard's defeat dropped their record down to 1-9. As for Mechanicville, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 11-5-1 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Emma Willard will face off against rival Waterford-Halfmoon at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Mechanicville is set to challenge their familiar foe Berlin at 4:15 p.m. on the 16th.
