Basketball Game Preview: Royal Highlanders vs. Golden Valley Grizzlies

Two dominant guards in Ace Arnold and Alex Villejo are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Royal Highlanders will be playing in front of their home fans against the Golden Valley Grizzlies at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Royal will bounce into Saturday's match after beating Oak Park, who they had gone 0-9 against in their nine prior meetings. Royal secured a 53-47 W over Oak Park on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Golden Valley didn't have too much trouble with Hart on Friday as they won 57-39. Given the Grizzlies' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 258th, while the Hawks are ranked 563rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Golden Valley is also on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.0 points per game. As for Royal, the win got them back to even at 12-12.

Royal beat Golden Valley 59-52 when the teams last played back in December of 2017. Does Royal have another victory up their sleeve, or will Golden Valley turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
