Oxford Prep's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They blew past Franklin Academy 10-0. The victory continues a trend for the Griffins in their matchups with the Patriots: they've now won seven in a row.
Not much got past Addyson Faucette, who gave up just two hits and racked up 18 Ks to keep Franklin Academy off the board. Those 18 strikeouts gave Faucette a new career-high.

At the plate, Marleigh Swanner was a standout: she scored four runs and stole five bases while going 2-for-3. Those five stolen bases gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Hailey Crowder, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
Oxford Prep hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Franklin Academy struck out 18 times.
Meanwhile, South Granville put their dominant pitcher on display in the team's fifth consecutive shutout on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 16-0 margin over Durham School of the Arts. The result was nothing new for the Vikings, who have now won five games by ten runs or more so far this season.
Chaleigh Currin made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
In other batting news, Addisen Goodwin was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That triple was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Abigail Shaeffer, who scored two runs and stole three bases while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.
South Granville's win bumped their record up to 6-2. As for Oxford Prep, their victory bumped their record up to 5-0.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Oxford Prep has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 11.4 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like South Granville struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.9 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
