Football Recap: Kiski School Cougars vs. Calvert Hall Cardinals
Kiski School couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They had to suffer through a 48-7 loss at the hands of the Calvert Hall Cardinals. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' football rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 474th in Pennsylvania, while the Cardinals are ranked 20th in Maryland).
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Calvert Hall to victory, but perhaps none more so than Mekhi Brown, who punched in two rushing scores, and also threw for 158 yards on 12 of 17 attempts. Another back making a difference was Kevaughn Mitchell, who rushed for 64 yards and a touchdown on only seven carries.
Calvert Hall's victory ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-0.
Kiski School will head out to challenge Hill School at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Kiski School is no doubt hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses dating back to last season. As for Calvert Hall, they will host La Salle College at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
