Mt. Vernon gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They never let the Westerville South Wildcats get on the board and left with a 4-0 victory. That's more bragging rights for the Yellowjackets, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Kayden Packard was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out seven over six innings pitched. Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
