Baseball Game Preview: Central Eagles vs. Andrew Jackson Volunteers

Central hasn't had much luck against Andrew Jackson recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Central Eagles will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against the Andrew Jackson Volunteers at 3:00 p.m. Central will be strutting in after a victory while Andrew Jackson will be coming in after a defeat.

Central is coming home in high spirits after they had to open their season on the road against Great Falls. Central was the clear victors by a 15-7 margin over Great Falls on Monday.

The team relied heavily on Logan Olney, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Another player making a difference was Cohen Phillips, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Central was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .409. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Great Falls only posted a batting average of .231.

Meanwhile, Andrew Jackson fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Rock Hill on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Bearcats by a score of 7-6. The Volunteers' loss continues a trend for the team, making it four in a row dating back to last season.

Central suffered a grim 15-0 defeat to Andrew Jackson when the teams last played back in March of 2023. Can Central avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
