Baseball Recap: Washington Blue Lions vs. McClain Tigers

Washington had lost three straight on the road, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 3-5 to make it four. They came up short against the McClain Tigers, falling 11-1. The Blue Lions were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Tigers earlier this season, when they won 7-0.

Washington saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Bryson Heath, who went 2-for-3 with one run.

As for McClain, their victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-5 and their overall record up to 3-8. The high-scoring effort was just what they needed considering they were shut out in their previous match.

On McClain's side, Cohen Six was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out nine over five innings pitched. Six also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because McClain is 3-1 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 0-7 otherwise. Six was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Hudson Lovett was incredible, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three RBI, one run, and one double. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Matthew Cummins also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Coming up, Washington will challenge Miami Trace at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for McClain, they will square off against North Adams at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Green Devils have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.67 runs per game on average), something the Tigers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
