Baseball Recap: Donna North Takes a Loss

Donna North extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping them down to 8-16. They lost 12-0 to the Weslaco East Wildcats. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wildcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 13-3 on Tuesday.

Donna North saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Prince Johnson, who went 1-for-2 with one triple.

As for Weslaco East, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 14 of their last 15 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 23-3 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average over those games.

On Weslaco East's side, Antonio Solis made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Solis has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, one triple, and one run. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Weslaco East got a big performance out of Brian Perez, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. That's the most RBI Perez has posted since back in March of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Eduardo Hernandez, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

Donna North wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 10-0 defeat against Harlingen South on the 22nd. As for Weslaco East, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-2 loss against Rivera on the 22nd.
