Softball Recap: Clinton Wins Going Away Against Puckett

Clinton barely beat Puckett the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Arrows blew past the Wolves 16-6 on Friday. The victory continues a trend for the Arrows in their matchups with the Wolves: they've now won four in a row.

Destiny Funchess was a standout: she scored four runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Makenzie Cooley, who went 2-for-5 with one home run and four RBI.

Clinton was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .469. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Clinton's record now sits at 15-11. As for Puckett, their loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 15-7-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Clinton will take on Tupelo at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Puckett, they will square off against Mize at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Wolves' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bulldogs have averaged an impressive 8 runs per game this season.
