Football Game Preview: Malakoff Tigers vs. Mineola Yellowjackets

The Malakoff Tigers will face off against the Mineola Yellowjackets at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Malakoff has given up an average of 32.2 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Fans were treated to a battle of the Tigers on Friday. Malakoff took a hard 50-31 fall against Commerce. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Malakoff came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 156th, while Commerce is ranked 333rd).

Meanwhile, Mineola ended up a good deal behind Winnsboro on Friday and lost 47-30. The Yellowjackets have struggled against the Raiders recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Mineola's loss dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Malakoff, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Everything came up roses for Malakoff against Mineola in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, as the squad secured a 47-10 win. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was the Yellowjackets' Aidan Shepherd, who rushed for 129 yards and one touchdown while picking up 7.2 yards per carry.
