Baseball Game Preview: Taylor Wildcats vs. New Smyrna Beach Barracudas

The Taylor Wildcats will hit the road for the first time this season to square off against the New Smyrna Beach Barracudas at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Thursday, Taylor earned a 9-6 victory over St. John Lutheran. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Wildcats.

Drew Moyer made a big impact no matter where he played. He struck out seven batters over 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and not a single walk). Moyer was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 1-for-4.

In other batting news, Alex Ramos was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances. Chase Heimbach was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for New Smyrna Beach, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged Seminole out 1-0 on Wednesday.

Taylor's record is now 2-0. As for New Smyrna Beach, the win got them back to even at 2-2.

Taylor suffered a grim 18-3 defeat to New Smyrna Beach in their previous matchup back in February of 2020. Can Taylor avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
