Basketball Recap: Citrus Falls Despite Big Games from Landon Hensley and Ashton Jenkins

The Citrus Hurricanes lost 85-61 to the Pasco Pirates on Wednesday.

Despite the loss, Citrus had strong showings from Ashton Jenkins, who went 8 of 12 on his way to 17 points along with four steals and three blocks, and Landon Hensley, who posted 21 points in addition to six assists and four steals. The dominant performance gave Jenkins a new career-high in steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Walker Tyler, who had six points along with nine boards and four blocks.

Leading Pasco to victory were Jeremiah Miller and TJ Gebru. Miller went 11 of 19 on his way to 26 points, while Gebru went 10 of 17 on his way to 25 points and five boards. Gebru's evening made it six games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Ezekial Jackson was another key player, dropping a double-double on ten points and 11 boards.

Citrus' defeat was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Pasco, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season.

Citrus will head out to square off against Crystal River at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Crystal River is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56.2 points per game this season. As for Pasco, they will welcome Anclote at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Pasco's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.
