Baseball Game Preview: Manassas Park Cougars vs. Skyline Hawks

Manassas Park hasn't had much luck against Skyline recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Cougars will welcome the Hawks at 6:00 p.m. Manassas Park has given up an average of 13.4 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Manassas Park is headed into Tuesday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their sixth straight game on Friday. They lost 13-0 to Kettle Run.

Meanwhile, Skyline hadn't done well against Meridian recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Hawks put the hurt on the Mustangs with a sharp 10-3 victory. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Hawks considering their two-run performance the matchup before.

Cameron Kerns was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has become a key player for Skyline: the team is undefeated when he allows at most three hits, but 3-6 otherwise. Kerns was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one double. That triple was his first of the season.

In other batting news, Kaleb Matthews was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was McKinley Tolliver, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs.

Skyline's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-6. As for Manassas Park, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-8.

Manassas Park might still be hurting after the 29-0 loss they got from Skyline in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Cougars avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
