Softball Preview: Englewood Pirates vs. Centaurus Warriors
After six games on the road, Englewood is heading back home. They will welcome the Centaurus Warriors at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
Last Saturday, Englewood didn't have quite enough to beat Middle Park and fell 8-7.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Centaurus). Everything went their way against Platte Canyon on Monday as Centaurus made off with a 26-6 win. The result was nothing new for the Warriors, who have now won six contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Nora Midness made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). What's more, she also racked up three hits, the mostshe's had since back in August. She was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with four runs, two stolen bases, and two stolen bases. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now stolen at least one in the last three games she's played dating back to last season.
In other batting news, Kaitlyn Long was a standout: she went 3-for-5 with five RBI, three runs, and three runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Isabel Sanders, who scored four runs and stole three bases while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.
