Basketball Recap: Shafter Generals vs. Taft Wildcats
Shafter was the 61-57 winner over Taft when they last played one another two weeks ago, but their luck changed this time around. The Shafter Generals fell 43-35 to the Taft Wildcats on Friday. The contest marked the Generals' lowest-scoring match so far this season.
Taft had a senior duo take command as Ernie Laulu almost dropped a double-double on 17 points and nine rebounds and Josh Cundiff went 6 for 10 on his way to 13 points and five boards. That makes it three consecutive games in which Laulu has scored at least a third of Taft's points.
This is the second loss in a row for Shafter and nudges their season record down to 6-9. As for Taft, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 12-9.
Shafter has already played their next game, a 76-49 defeat against McFarland on the 28th. As for Taft, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 54-52 loss against Kennedy on the 29th.
