Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Jaliyah Terry and Maci Butler Lead Curtis Baptist to Victory

Curtis Baptist had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 19 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They snuck past the Hammond Skyhawks with a 34-29 victory.

Curtis Baptist was led to victory by Maci Butler and Jaliyah Terry. Butler dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds, while Terry posted 11 points in addition to six rebounds and six steals. Butler has been hot recently, having posted eight or more boards the last four times she's played.

Curtis Baptist pushed their record up to 11-4 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The wins didn't necessarily come from the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 28.3 points per game. As for Hammond, they are on an eight-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-7.

Curtis Baptist will be playing in front of their home fans against Wardlaw Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Wardlaw Academy will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Curtis Baptist surely won't give up without a fight. As for Hammond, they will venture away from home to take on Augusta Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
