Softball Recap: Virginia City Extends Winning Streak to Three

Virginia City had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Lee Vining Tigers as they made off with a 24-6 win. The Muckers have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Tigers, too.

Nanna Lopez was a standout: she went a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, three doubles, and four RBI. She continues to improve, besting her previous run total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaiya Krum, who went 3-for-4 with four stolen bases, four runs, and one RBI.

Virginia City pushed their record up to 13-7-1 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 19.3 runs over those games. As for Lee Vining, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-5 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Virginia City will face off against Wells at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Lee Vining, they will challenge Immanuel Christian at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday. The Tigers will need to watch out since the Crusaders have now posted at least ten runs in their last three games.
