4A Greater Metro Top Player Performances of the Week

Congratulations to this week's top players! We're covering the best performances from Friday's football action (using all statistics entered as of the time of writing). Enjoy!

A Season-Best Effort from Mozes Morris Leads Lake Norman over Cox Mill

Mozes Morris produced his most outstanding game to date while leading Lake Norman to the win on Friday. Morris rushed for 142 yards and two touchdowns, good enough to set a new career-high in rushing yards in the process. That high mark didn't come from nowhere: he has now rushed for 111 or more in the last three games he's played dating back to last season.

Morris and Lake Norman will square off against South Iredell at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Wildcats got just the result they wanted when they last faced the Vikings, probably because Morris had a solid game then too: he rushed for 79 yards and a touchdown. Can he match (or beat) that performance?

Johnson Made His Presence Known in South Iredell's 38-17 Win

Tyler Johnson was a major factor in South Iredell's victory over A.L. Brown on Friday. Johnson did his part (and then some), throwing for 143 yards and three touchdowns, while also rushing for 60 yards on only seven carries for the 'W'. South Iredell is undefeated when Johnson posts three or more passing touchdowns, but 0-3 otherwise.

Johnson might have his next game, a home matchup with Lake Norman, circled on his calendar. Johnson rushed for 140 yards and a touchdown on only 12 carries the last time he and the Wildcats duked it out back in October of 2023.
