Basketball Recap: Yelm Takes a Loss

Yelm was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 17th straight defeat. They were dealt a 72-41 loss at the hands of the Graham-Kapowsin Eagles. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Tornados this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 54-34 back in December of 2024.

Among those leading the charge was Brooklynn Chang, who posted 23 points. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Sydney Doepke, who scored 14 points.

Yelm's defeat dropped their record down to 1-17. As for Graham-Kapowsin, they moved to 6-13 with that victory, which also ended their eight-game losing streak.

Yelm and Graham-Kapowsin could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Washington Rankings. Yelm (ranked 309th) will meet Olympia (ranked 40th) at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Similarly, Graham-Kapowsin will square off against Bonney Lake at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday down 160 places (239 vs. 79).
