Volleyball Recap: Ben Davis Comes Up Short

If Ben Davis was riding high fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Pike on Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Giants lost 3-0 to the Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory Braves on Thursday.

Jael De La Cruz paced Ben Davis' offense, picking up 12 kills. De La Cruz got some help from Jeremy Deboy and his 12 assists. De La Cruz was also a major player on defense: he and he shared the team lead in blocks, finishing with four each.

Mikey Millikan was the offensive standout of the game as he had 14 digs and one assist. He has been hot, having posted 12 or more digs the last five times he's played. Nate LeRoy also deserves some recognition as he served his first aces of the season.

Ben Davis has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-5 record this season. As for Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 6-7.

Ben Davis didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-1 win against Lawrence North on the 29th. Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory has also already played their next game (against Franklin Central), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
