Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Highland). They breezed by the Kootenai Warriors to the tune of 65-15 on Monday. The matchup was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Huskies had established a 45 point advantage.
Highland got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Kylee Beck out in front who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds. Beck is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down nine or more in the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Hailey Click, who went 5 of 12 on her way to 11 points and eight steals.
Highland smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 19 consecutive games dating back to last season.
Highland's victory bumped their record up to 10-8. As for Kootenai, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-10.
Highland and Genesee will meet in a dog eat dog contest at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Genesee will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something Highland surely won't give up without a fight. As for Kootenai, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Clark Fork at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Kootenai is facing Clark Fork at the right time seeing as Clark Fork is stuck on a five-game losing streak.
