Recap: Shanksville Stonycreek Vikings vs. Salisbury Elk Lick Elks
The Shanksville Stonycreek Vikings suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Thursday. They had to suffer through a rough 61-28 loss at the hands of Salisbury Elk Lick. It was the first time this season that Shanksville Stonycreek let down their fans at home.
Despite the loss, Shanksville Stonycreek had strong showings from Braxton Newman, who scored ten points, and Grant Boozer, who scored six points along with nine rebounds and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Newman has scored all season.
Even though they lost, Shanksville Stonycreek smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Salisbury Elk Lick only pulled down five offensive rebounds.
Salisbury Elk Lick's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Drake Sellers, who scored 17 points along with eight rebounds and eight blocks. Sellers hasn't dropped below two blocks for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Lance Jones, who scored 18 points along with three steals.
Shanksville Stonycreek's defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-5. As for Salisbury Elk Lick, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season.
Shanksville Stonycreek will head out on the road to face off against Ferndale at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
