Basketball Game Preview: Haven Wildcats vs. Nickerson Panthers

Haven and Nickerson are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2020, but not for long. A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Haven Wildcats challenge the Nickerson Panthers on Tuesday. Haven will be coming into the contest with an undefeated record on the line.

On Friday, Haven earned a 37-28 victory over Norton. Given the Wildcats' advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 20th, while the Bluejays are ranked 167th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Nickerson took a blow against Cheney on Friday, falling 71-5. The Panthers have struggled against the Cardinals recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Nickerson's defeat dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Haven, their win was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-0.

Everything came up roses for Haven against Nickerson in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, as the squad secured a 60-4 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Haven since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
